Patch Notes — Version 0.11.57874.1

Full Tears of Metal patch notes for 0.11.57863 balance, 0.11.57874.1 mouse hotfix, and condensed 0.10/0.9/0.8 history: Charm tiers, Act 2 captains, Banshee stun bar, emblem offer weighting, and Crossplay still disabled.

Current Live Version — 0.11.57874.1 (August 9, 2026)

Paper Cult's current default-branch build is hotfix 0.11.57874.1, shipped August 9, 2026. It follows gameplay patch 0.11.57863, which rebalanced Charms, Act 2 captains, emblem family offers, Banshee stun mechanics, and Act 2 difficulty pacing. Verify your client in Settings → About before inviting co-op friends — version mismatches still block lobbies more often than server outages during Early Access.

The August 9 hotfix targets mouse stutter linked to the Epic Online Services overlay. Paper Cult described it as a tentative fix with no announced balance changes beyond 0.11.57863. For Banshee strategy after the stun-bar rework, read Beat the Banshee. For Charm tier shifts, see Charms Guide.

Patch 0.11.57863 — Changelog (August 2026)

Version 0.11.57863 is the first major balance pass after launch-month hotfixes. Paper Cult grouped changes into Charm economy, Act 2 pacing, captain tuning, emblem offers, UI clarity, and boss adjustments.

  • Charm categories — reclassified rarity tiers to reflect utility; rebalanced several Charms by tier
  • Cursed Spealbone — reduced Health cost when accepting a Charm
  • Charm Treasure Chest and Fountain prices rebalanced between Acts
  • Dragonstone Treasure Chests — now cost one Dragonstone; high-tier rewards adjusted
  • Act 2 difficulty curve — transition from Act 1 less abrupt while keeping Act 2 challenging
  • Act 2 captains — adjusted Health and Block Health for Dagger, Sword and Shield, Polearm, Giant, and Rage Master
  • Pikeman Captain II — removed block-breaking from counterattack; increased hits required to trigger
  • Arbalest Captain — adjusted damage types in Act 2
  • Emblem offers — campaign selection now favors Emblem Families not yet seen in the current run
  • Block-damage icon — clearer indicator for attacks that deal extra Block damage
  • Beacon timing and army survivability tuning
  • Iseult the Banshee — stun bar: direct damage contributes more, parries contribute less, decay slowed
  • Crossplay still temporarily disabled on default branch

Hotfix 0.11.57874.1 — Changelog (August 9, 2026)

The August 9 hotfix addresses sudden mouse stutter some players reported after 0.11.57863, tentatively tied to Epic Online Services overlay interaction. No additional balance notes shipped with this build.

  • Tentative fix for mouse stutter / input hitch linked to Epic Online Services overlay
  • No announced Charm, captain, or boss balance changes beyond 0.11.57863

Earlier Hotfix 0.10.57598 — Changelog (July 31, 2026)

The July 31 hotfix targets quality-of-life regressions discovered after 0.9 shipped. None of these items replace mid-campaign saves — Paper Cult still lists mid-run checkpointing as separate in-progress work.

  • Drift Correction set to 1 no longer locks player controls
  • Commanders no longer disappear after reaching Level 6/MAX if the game is closed early
  • Army units dismiss properly when issued dismiss commands
  • Castle Records Charm unlock display corrected (pairs with 0.9 tracking accuracy work)

Patch 0.9.57408 — Changelog (July 28, 2026)

Patch 0.9.57408 is the first major feature push after launch-week balance. Save recovery and Castle Records were the headline meta systems; combat fixes addressed Harold, Iseult the Banshee, health bars, and Charm pickup clarity. Performance work reduced texture sizes, and two biomes received layout and collision passes.

  • Save recovery system — helps restore corrupted meta saves (not mid-run campaign checkpoints)
  • Castle Records — improved unlocked-item tracking accuracy; clearer locked vs unobtainable labels
  • Iseult the Banshee — movement fixes for jump-away behavior and stuck floating states
  • Harold boss — invincibility bug fixed; fight no longer soft-locks on immune phases
  • Health bar display fixes across elites and bosses
  • Charm stack count pickup fix
  • Unlock tooltip placeholder text fix
  • Crossplay still temporarily disabled on default branch
  • Texture size reduction for performance on lower-end PCs and handhelds
  • Swamp biome 2 — layout, art, and collision update
  • Birchtrees — spawn, structure markers, and art update

Earlier Patch 0.8.57278 — Condensed Summary (July 25–26, 2026)

Launch-week patch 0.8.57278 remains the baseline for several balance changes still active in 0.11. Ruadh Stonecrusher unlocks after defeating the Banshee (replacing Gilles + Settlement Outpost level 2). Wallace's Flamberge costs 3 Dragonstones; Celtic Longsword sells for 500 triskelle. Statue Region rewards appear more often with higher quantities. Boss block-breaking attacks are parryable. Distant Cloaks reduces Threat by 2; A Distraction costs coins instead of Dragonstones.

Major bug fixes from 0.8 still matter: Banshee invisibility soft-locks, Dreadshot teleport stuck states, Gilles aggro ignores, Brienne quest gate closures, and default-branch Crossplay disable (unchanged through 0.11). New Common Charm Cutthroat's Blade (+10% crit on Finishers) shipped here.

Crossplay Still Disabled on Default Branch

Important: Crossplay between Steam and Microsoft Store / PC Game Pass remains temporarily disabled on the default branch through 0.11.57874.1. Steam players who need mixed-store parties should opt into the "Crossplay" beta branch to remain on an older compatible build, accepting that beta users miss newer balance and bug fixes until Paper Cult re-enables default-branch crossplay.

Same-storefront squads on the default 0.11 build do not need the beta. Full step-by-step guidance lives on the Crossplay Guide. Host-distance desync remains a top Paper Cult priority alongside mid-campaign saves.

Next Priorities (Official)

After 0.11, Paper Cult continues work on multiplayer desync when hosts are far away or on unstable connections, mid-campaign (mid-run) saves, networking optimizations, and re-enabling default-branch Crossplay. Content focus — including two mysterious teaser heroes still unobtainable — follows stability milestones. Track progress on the Updates roadmap and Upcoming Heroes.
