Steam supports the full interface language set Paper Cult ships at EA: English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Latin American Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese. Audio remains English-forward at Early Access launch with subtitles in supported languages.

Microsoft Store & PC Game Pass

The Microsoft Store build serves standalone purchasers and PC Game Pass subscribers through the same client. Game Pass day-one inclusion lowers co-op squad cost when friends hesitate on a new roguelike, but party invites flow through Xbox social layers rather than Steam friend lists.

Achievements sync to your Microsoft account. Cloud saves follow Xbox PC cloud rules when enabled. Overlay shortcuts from Xbox Game Bar can conflict with battalion bumper bindings—disable redundant capture keys if bumpers trigger system menus mid-fight.

Console co-op will join the online ecosystem late 2026 if schedules hold. Cross-play between PC and Xbox depends on Paper Cult's final networking configuration—watch official announcements rather than assuming day-one parity with Steam parties.

Multiplayer Modes — Online Only

Tears of Metal supports solo campaigns and online co-op for up to four players. Local split-screen, shared-screen couch co-op, LAN play, and dedicated servers are not advertised for PC Early Access. Mixed local-and-online play is unsupported. Plan voice chat and stable broadband for launch night squads.
